My law talks are designed based on frequently asked questions by clients and fellow attorneys, so that business owners are given information to make effective decisions.

I conduct a variety of talks aimed at educating attendees on general legal information.

While, I may be an attorney, my Law Talks are geared toward small and medium-sized business owners, freelancers, consultants, social media marketers, etc . . .  A great emphasis placed on understanding, and typically during a talk I will use methods like Draw the Law to make sure that the audience understands tough legal concepts of business law.  Currently, I offer two classes through the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa Outreach College Pacific New Media program.

Social Media and the Law: Social media has become prevalent in our everyday lives - how often do you check Facebook? Whether it is announcing a new deal, sharing a joke, or making connections, social media is there. So is the law. This course provides an overview of general laws and legal concepts that apply to social media usage. Ranging from topics on advertising to employment matters, the goal of the class is to give students the ability to spot issues that may arise when interacting with social media.

Intellectual Property for Content Creators: This class provides an overview of intellectual property laws facing content audio and visual content creators. Legal areas covered include copyright, trademark, right of publicity/privacy, trade secret, as well as other laws that a content creator may encounter when producing, authoring, sharing, licensing, or using content (both offline and online). Cases are used to aid understanding the applicability of the law, and examples are discussed to show the practical implications. The goal is to present basic legal information so that content creators can see areas of risk for their work, and then can work more effectively with legal counsel to assess and reduce that risk. U.S. law is the primary focus.

Please sign up for these classes through the Pacific New Media's website.
